Maribyrnong Park Football Club

Steve has been part of the Maribyrnong Park Football Club since 2016, when his son started playing U10 football. Since then, he’s been a footy dad, runner, trainer, umpire escort, match day official, and team manager.

In 2021 and 2022, Steve volunteered to take on the Club Secretary role. Steve is passionate about the role community football can and should play in supporting a physically and socially healthy community. Steve is committed to growing Marby not only as a football power club, but also as a source of community power that benefits the number of players and families involved. 

In 2023, as Treasurer, Steve reformed the club's finances to run sustained cash profits and a much stronger balance sheet. This established the level of off-field performance necessary for improved on-field performance, culminating in the club's senior men's team winning their league premiership in 2024 and promotion to Premier Division in 2025. 

Steve also worked with Bill Shorten during his final year in Parliament to secure a $500,000 Commonwealth Government grant to undertake a series of capital works projects through 2026 and 2027. These include a commercial kitchen refit, a new medical room, a permanent covered BBQ stand, an elevated coach's box, covered grandstand seating for both ovals, and renewable energy (solar panels and batteries).

As Club Secretary, Steve led efforts to broaden the club's sponsorship base by creating entry-level visibility opportunities for new sponsors, such as corflute signs hung around the club. Enterprise Advisory & Consulting was one of the first sponsors to take up this opportunity.
